MATERIALS
Please prepare your preferred leather and shoelaces.
(For beginners, genuine leather or synthetic leather is recommended. For genuine leather, a soft type with a thickness of 2mm or more is preferable; for synthetic leather, a thicker type is also preferable. Thin materials may have low durability and unstable shapes.)

Sizes may vary slightly depending on the brand and model, so please refer to the chart below and compare it with the size of shoes you normally wear.

Patterns
The Soles Kit includes patterns for Derby (lace-up shoes).

How to make Derby 👞
Cut along the lines with a cutter or scissors.
Step 4
Punch holes in the cut patterns.
Step 5
Mark the back of the material you will use with a pen according to the pattern.
Step 6
After drawing all of the left shoe, flip it over and draw the right shoe.
There are left and right patterns for shoes.
Mark the inside of the foot on the pattern and be careful not to confuse the right and left patterns!
Step 7
Cut along the lines and marks with a knife or sharp scissors, and punch holes.
Step 8
Once all the patterns are cut, temporarily fasten the left and right parts in the correct position with masking tape.
Step 9
Thread a needle through both ends of the included thread.
Insert the needle at position A and thread it until both threads are the same length.
Sew with needle 1 to point D.
After sewing with needle 2 to point D, then insert needle 1 into position D on the sole.
Step 10
Now, sew the upper and the sole. We will sew using the saddle stitch method, where both needles are alternately sewn together.
For the side stitch, sew with a single thread and then return in the same way from the end.
To finish, double stitch both threads and cut at the end.
Insert the insole and thread the laces to complete!
This time we used brown synthetic leather, but changing the material completely changes the atmosphere. It's fun to create original designs based on the pattern.
Soles recognized by shoe designers (craftsmen)
Mr. Iida, a designer/shoemaker at DECO&BOCO, also purchased our soles and made a sample.
It is popular even among craftsmen who usually spend a lot of time and effort making shoes. Since it can be made in a relatively short time, they plan to create a second line using "LOPER" separate from their regular line.
It's also perfect for shoe-making workshops.
